Axle codes 35, 45, 65. I finally got a copy of a Ford manual. In it, it gives three different 4:10 ratio rear axles, with 6250, 7400, and 8250 max trailer ratings. What is the difference between these three axles? It isn't anything like being limited slip either. The limited slip codes are c5, d5, and F5. It is a banjo-style axle as is the 8-inch. It was in production on many Ford cars and trucks, first appearing in 1957 and finally replaced by the Salisbury-style 8.8-inch axle in 1986, saving about 50 pounds and boasting increased efficiency.
