From my experience, putting a fridge in front of a window creates a "wall" for zombie's AI. last I tried, it does work as a wall or barricade. the zombies will break light objects such as chairs fairly easily though. AND when ever I put objects to block a window from the INSIDE the zombies can walk through it.

One plank will put up one barricade, but you can repeat the process 4 or 5 times to fully barricade it. Make sure the equipment needed is in your main inventory, and not a bag, and you should be fine :) #8. Nope, you can barricade doors/windows even with hammer/planks/nails in a bag/backpack/whatever. The character will authomatically put them in their inventory and then proceed to barricade.
